Plugged In Podcast #35: Thomas Eiden on Nuclear Regulations and Nuclear Medicine

Government regulations often encompass far more than they were initially intended to, and that is especially true in the energy space. Many energy regulations have grown to encompass adjacent industries. Nuclear technology has numerous applications beyond the weapons and energy sectors. One such application is nuclear medicine, where isotopes produced in a nuclear reactor are used for medical imaging and treatment purposes. This is a space in which it is difficult for a private company to navigate the regulatory waters, but also one where innovation can create massive society-wide benefits. Thomas Eiden’s Atomic Alchemy seeks to enter this market which is currently dominated by just 6 government-run facilities.
