Quote – Coal Group Says Fossil Fuels Still Cheapest Way of Making Power

“The trade group American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity and the free-market Institute for Energy Research issued a report Monday saying it still costs less, on average, to generate electricity from existing reactors, coal and gas than from new wind and solar farms if you consider their ability to deliver electricity when demand peaks. While the study compares the lifetime costs of resources much like others, it also builds in the costs of renewable energy’s intermittent nature and the fact that it can’t adjust to short-term changes in demand.”
