Energy Encyclopedia

The Institute for Energy Research created the Energy Encyclopedia, which provides an in-depth analysis of America’s energy sources. Using Energy Information Administration (EIA) data, IER examines these energy sources and breaks down how each one contributes to overall energy consumption and production in the United States.

Primary sections include overviews of biomass, coal, fossil fuels, geothermal energy, hydroelectric power, nuclear energy, oil shale, petroleum, solar and wind energy, among other topics.

IER continues to maintain the encyclopedia and updates entries when relevant data becomes available, or when breakthrough technologies emerge.
