An energy revolution is occurring on private and state lands, where the use of hydraulic fracturing has led to unprecedented increases in oil and gas production over just the past few years.
Unfortunately, this boom isn’t occurring on federal lands because of excessive regulations that are being imposed on our energy rich federal lands, particularly in the West. Instead of working to implement sensible leasing policies that would encourage responsible oil and gas production, the federal Bureau of Land Management is proposing to increase regulations and the costs of producing energy. One estimate is that the rules will cost over $1 billion per year.
