WASHINGTON — Institute for Energy Research Vice President for Policy Daniel Simmons appeared earlier this week on BBC World News to discuss the UN Climate Summit and global energy poverty. Simmons had the following to say on energy poverty:

“It is critical for poor people, whether they are abroad or even in rich countries like the United States or the U.K., to have access to reliable and affordable energy because that makes people’s lives better. Energy is a fundamental part of the economy, a fundamental part of our lives. If we can reduce carbon dioxide emissions over time, I think that’s great, but it is critical that we have access to energy to get our economies going again…”
